Alcohol consumption during breastfeeding is a bad choice. It gets into your breast milk in the same concentration as in your blood stream. After consuming 1 drink, it remains in the blood for an average of 2 hours. This increases with the quantity of alcohol consumed. It’s consumption leads to impaired let-down reflex and decreased milk production. Passing of alcohol into the child’s body leads to poor motor development, irritability, and unusual sleep patterns.
